Liberia continues to face alarming child health challenges, particularly in rural areas where access to critical services remains limited. Children under five are disproportionately affected by malnutrition, preventable infections, and poor health literacy. These vulnerabilities are compounded by global funding cuts that have left local health systems overstretched and under-resourced.

In response, SCIDA has launched a community-led Child Health Campaign in Nimba County, targeting 3,000 children under five across Meinpea-Mahn, Bain, and Sannquelli Districts. With minimal external support, the campaign provides a package of lifesaving interventions, including vitamin A supplementation, deworming tablets, nutritional screening, household-level health awareness, and referrals to local health facilities.
The initiative was officially launched on November 3, 2025, and is designed to scale up to reach 30,000 children under the age of five across the county. By prioritizing early intervention and community engagement, SCIDA aims to reduce childhood morbidity and mortality, while strengthening local capacity to respond to health risks.
SCIDA’s approach is rooted in rights-based, locally adapted advocacy. Through door-to-door outreach and collaboration with community health workers, the campaign empowers caregivers with knowledge and tools to protect their children’s health. Referrals to nearby clinics ensure that children with acute needs receive timely care.
This campaign exemplifies SCIDA’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable health solutions, even in the face of global funding constraints. It is a call to action for partners and stakeholders to invest in Liberia’s youngest citizens and support community-driven health resilience.
